Waiting for Spring

Taking part to It's All About Vintage and Beauty's latest challenge "Dreams of spring with lace".

I personally welcome warmth and light of Spring. This thought made me choose a warm colour palette for my card:

What a lovely family photo! The picture is one from Vintagearkku. Thank you! :) The big crocheted circle and earth-coloured round buttons are from recycling centre, orange lace I dyed myself years ago and white fabric ribbon I bought few days ago.

Thank you for looking!

Ghost at Midnight

Here's my entry for Fun with ATC challenge. This is the first time I take part to this challenge and I think it won't be the last! ;)

The theme was Gothic, meaning "something dark, something gothic or Halloween...".

Since in Finland the Spring is coming it's harder to tune into darker creative mood. I actually made few other pictures before I got an idea for this, just after midnight! ;) That helped to name this one.

Ghost at Midnight

I made my piece with black ink (mixed with water) and watercolour pencils.

Thanks for looking!

My favourite: Beautiful Vasilisa

Collage Obsession challenged us to present our favourite fairy tale.
I have loved ever since a little girl fairy tales and their beautiful pictures, so it was a hard choice to pick just one of those.

I ended up with a tale from a book of Russian folk stories: Beautiful Vasilisa.

Creating a piece of art from this topic was a long process, but this evening I got it finished. Rather than making a card I chose to make a spread of this to my scrap book.

The story is about a brave, dutiful and - of course - beautiful young woman, who's mother dies. In her dying bed mother gives her a small doll, which eventually helps her with cruel stepmother, stepsisters and evil witch Baba Jaga. At the end she needs no more help from the doll to get married with a tsar! :)

In left page I used watercolour pencils and white acrylic colour. The background of right page is made with acrylic colours. To the middle I actually copied a page of text with ornamental frames from the book and coloured and stamped it. The figure of the girl I drew with ink and watercolours.

Thanks for reading :) Have a nice weekend!

Edit: 16th of March 12:30... Took a better picture in daylight and updated it here.

ATC Cards in Vintage Spirit

I was surprised about the new challenge of It's All About Vintage and Beauty - they encourage us to make ATC cards! Hooray, I say! ;-)
More specific subject is children, and of course the vintage spirit is essential!

In my ATC cards the children sail to marine adventures and enjoy about summer days. :-)

Edit: Just went through some of the other beautiful cards posted for this challenge. Seems like ATC cards have inspired especially Finnish craft bloggers, and some of them made their first ATCs. Hopefully we'll see more from them... I have been making ATCs for about five years and have got somewhat fond of the concept. :-)

By the way: Just two weeks ago I found a new challenge that focuses on ATCs. It's Fun With ATCs.

ATC - Inner Beauty

Woke today to intensive light coming through curtains - Spring is soon here I think! Can't wait to get outside. :)
But here's an ATC for these two challenges:

Inspire Me Fridays - Anything goes
Inspiration Avenue - Breast Cancer Awarenes

Inner Beauty Makes You Shine

I coloured the background paper with watercolours and orange gel roll pen. The woman I cut from an advertisement. The gleaming areas I created with gel roll pencils, plus a hologram sticker.

Wish you all a wonderful Saturday!
