Art Journal Going Forward

Somehow my art journal inspiration leapt forward last month. :) Here are some new pages - first one still a work in progress.
/ Selasin hetki sitten art journaliani ja tajusin projektin edenneen yllättävää vauhtia - jostain oli tullut kolme sivua lisää! Ensimmäinen näistä on toki vielä vaiheessa...

The second page is made with aquarelle pens. The first drawing I made with black ink.
/Omasta päästä piirrettyä, akvarellikynin tussipiirroksen päälle.

This oil pastel page I made during a Spring storm...
/Tapailin kevätmyrskyn tunnelmia öljypastelleilla...

I'm slowly working away my inspiration block which is nice.
/ Ehkä tämä tästä. Inspiraatioblokki on ollut välillä painostava, mutta hetkittäin jotain syntyy.

Art Journaling - Third Page

The third page of my art journal looks quite finished!
/ Kolmas sivu tämänvuotisessa art journalissani on kovin valmiin näköinen. :)

I'm glad the watercolour splashes on the background are still somewhat visible. Completed the page with some glimmer mist and stamping with perfect medium and perfect pearls.
/Taustan vesiväritäplitys ei onneksi kadonnut kokonaan viimeistelyssä. Leimailin kuvioita perfect mediumilla ja mineraalijauheella, ja sumuttelin kimallesumutteella nuo tekstikorostukset.

Art Journaling: Happiness

My first Art Journal got a second page lately. It's about reminding myself of steps to increase my happiness.

I take part to Inspiration Avenue's challenge with this page as it fits surprisingly well to the theme "Hearts and Trees".

I strongly link happiness and heart together. The heart shape was the starting point of my first drawing. The final shape with barely visible outlines is important. I wanted to leave out any barriers. The leaves came along in middle of the process. They say to me to go on, something good is going to grow out of listening yourself... :-)

And if you wonder - the main quotation is from a song (Secret) of Madonna, :) Started to listen her record after many years and somehow that line stroke me!

As for technique: I continued the earlier ink drawing with water-based acrylic colours. I'm surprised that the golden flower stamping seems to work! Took some risks with it...
The white gel pen was really useful when writing and finishing the page.

The Art Journal of 2014: First Page

During last weeks I have read more about a zillion techniques, among them Art Journaling. Still a lot to learn... But as older people say here in Finland: You never get ready (in life that is). Maybe it's only for good, to know you aren't supposed to become all knowing?

Well for this year I've "challenged" myself to fill a book in kind of an-art-journal-way.
So far I've realised that I really should start more pages because otherwise I'll never finish! ;-) Putting them together along the year should be fun too.

At the moment there's one page quite ready and another I plan to continue soon...

Art Journal Tryouts

After last months intensive face painting & drawing I decided to take few days break from artist stuff.

But I have to confess that the break did not last long. ;) I have been trying out some new stuff on my art journal...
The gesso based pages are not made for watercolours but the effect looks fun!
The upper one has a thick gesso base and the lower a thin layer.

And I'm also preparing for Halloween-time... :)
