ATC about Easter

Hi! I have had less energy than usual last days due to a flu. I guess Spring time has its ups and downs... It is certainly a plus that I managed to get an inspiration for Lace and powder -blog's challenge "Easter". The Easter time is something I look forward to, because we are going to spend few days with our friends and just relax. :)

/ Heippa! Vaikka flunssaisuus on vaivannut, sain aikaan ATC-kortin Pitsiä ja puuteria -haasteeseen. Aiheenahan on pääsiäinen. Itse asiassa odottelen kovasti pääsiäisviikonloppua, koska näemme silloin kavereita ja otamme ihan rennosti. :)

Art Journaling - Third Page

The third page of my art journal looks quite finished!

I'm glad the watercolour splashes on the background are still somewhat visible. Completed the page with some glimmer mist and stamping with perfect medium and perfect pearls.
/Taustan vesiväritäplitys ei onneksi kadonnut kokonaan viimeistelyssä. Leimailin kuvioita perfect mediumilla ja mineraalijauheella, ja sumuttelin kimallesumutteella nuo tekstikorostukset.

A Spread for Love Songs

Last weekend I got inspired by latest It's All About Vintage -challenge.

The theme of 65th challenge is Music.

At first I gathered materials for a card. Then I happened to find two music-themed pictures I have been keeping safe. They gave me an idea to add a new spread for my scrap/deco book. Some songs have a way to move you and find a place in your heart. Especially love songs tend to do that. That is why this spread fits in greatly with other pages, showing things I love.

Löysin korttitarpeita etsiessäni huolella säästämäni musiikkiaiheiset vintage-kuvat. En ole halunnut luopua niistä, ja siksi ne ovat odottaneet oikeaa käyttötarkoitusta. Onneksi muistin kuvia katsellessani scrappays/deco-vihkon, jota olen tehnyt itselleni. Siinä on kaksi aukeamaa aiheista, jotka ovat minulle läheisiä. Koska monet musiikkikappaleet ovat nekin löytäneet tiensä sisimpääni, sopi tämäkin teema mukaan decoon.

A Birthday Surprise From Finland

Recently I sent a surprise present for my close friend who lives abroad. It's not so long ago when she left there but knowing she misses Finland gave me an idea how to cheer her up.
/ Hiljattain lähetin ylläripaketin pitkäaikaiselle ystävälleni, joka asuu ulkomailla. Hän ei ole asunut vielä pitkään siellä, mutta kaipaa kotimaataan. Aiheesta keskustellessamme sain ajatuksen, kuinka lähettää palan Suomea synttärilahjaksi.

The solution was a talented acquaintance of mine. She makes cute and personal jewellery which I have bought few for myself, like my favourite owl earrings. :) There are also cup cakes, doughnuts and other fun stuff. (Her new web page is purppurapuu.omasivu.fi, and more works you see from Facebook.)

Ideani Suomi-teemaiseksi koruksi taisi kuitenkin saada kimmokkeen niistä ruoka-aiheisista koruista. joita hänellä on Facebookissa esillä. So I ordered a personalized necklace for my friend. I think Elisa did terrific job with it with lifelike rye breads and bright wooden pearls!
/ Kaulakorun tilasinkin siis erillisenä työnä, ja Elisa työsti heittämistäni ajatuksista upean kokonaisuuden, pienine ruisleipineen ja pirteine puuhelmineen. :)

I completed the gift by making the greeting card on the background. There I used watercolour drops for watery effect. The fairy and dragonfly stamps fit there perfectly I think. :)
/ Taustalla näkyvä kortti onkin sitten omaa käsialaani. Halusin jatkaa itsetehtyä tunnelmaa, ja käytin vesivärejä taustan luomiseen. Keiju/vedenhenki ja sudenkorentoleimat istuivat kivasti vedelliseen kokonaisuuteen.

Crunchy Oatmeal Bites With Cheese

We eat a lot bread in our tiny household - a breakfast is not the same without it. These oatmeal bites with cheese I came up with years ago when a lack of bread happened. I think the original recipe was much more simple - and boring. So I changes few things. My favourite ingredient oatmeal gave them a nice structure.

I'm not sure what should I call them in English... They are salty, but being so crunchy, they don't resemble typical bread. I'd be glad to hear your suggestion!

Anyway if you are onto salty delights these quick bites could make your day!
Yesterday I tried out some honey on them instead of marmalade. Delightful!

Ingredients for 12 pieces:
300 ml. oatmeal
200 ml. wheat flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
200 ml. shredded cheese
250 ml. milk
50 ml. butter, softened
2 tablespoon syrup or honey
1 teaspoon (herb)salt

Add if you feel like it:
2 teaspoons oregano
1 crushed garlic clove

First mix oatmeal, flour and baking powder together. Then use microwave to soften the butter. Add all ingredients together and mix the dough thoroughly. Heat oven to 225 Celsius degrees (which should be 437 Fahrenheit according to this Measurement Converter). Use a table spoon to lift individual chunks on baking paper. The diameter is around 2,5 inches.The ones I made did not spread much so they could be placed closely together. Bake in oven for 14 minutes.

Meillä syödään paljon leipää, vaikka syöjiä on vain kaksi. Joinain aamuina viimeiset viipaleet ovat oudosti kadonneet nukkuessa. Pelastuksena ovat nämä juustoiset kaurateeleivät. Ne eivät tarvitse aikaa kohotakseen, joten valmistaminen on kaiken kaikkiaan nopeaa. Alkuperäinen resepti ei ollut muistaakseni kovinkaan maukas, joten vaihdoin osan jauhoista kaurahiutaleisiin, nappasin juustoraastetta mukaan ja heitin muitakin lemppariaineksiani joukkoon! :)

Ainekset (12 kpl)
3 dl kaurahiutaleita
2 dl vehnäjauhoja
2 tl leivinjauhetta
2 dl juustoraastetta
2 1/2 dl maitoa
1/2 dl voisulaa
2 rkl siirappia tai hunajaa
1 tl (yrtti)suolaa

halutessasi myös:
2 tl oreganoa
1 valkosipulinkynsi

Kuivat ainekset sekoitetaan aluksi keskenään. Tämän jälkeen lisätään loput aineet ja taikina sekoitetaan tasaiseksi. Taikina voi olla löysähkö. Leivinpaperille nostellaan pyöreähköjä leipäsiä. Nämä kohosivat todella vähän, joten ne voi laittaa melko lähekkäin. Paista 225-asteisessa uunissa 14 minuuttia. Annoin ulkopinnan kypsyä paikoin ruskeaksi, ja lopputulos oli mukavan rapsakka.

Kaurateeleivät olivat lämpimänä parhaimmillaan. Itse lisäsin päälle aavistuksen juoksevaa hunajaa, maiskis! :)

Papercraftwood Gets Bilingual!

I think it is about time to make some changes into my blogging. I'm about to combine the two blogs I have been updating. Last two years have taught me a lot about blogging. First of all I truly like this hobby! Blogging here in English has definitely been worth my time!

However, my Finnish blog, Mustetahroja sormissa, has been in troubles. The blog platform Vuodatus had major problems (like loosing a lot of images) two years ago. That drove away many Finnish bloggers and still affects the rate of my visitors. Most craft bloggers use Blogger now. And one cannot follow a blog of Vuodatus just by clicking and joining, if she is a Blogger user. So after long thinking I have decided to let go of that nuisance.


For anyone reading this blog these news are good! I'll be writing more, going to widen the perceptive and be more active! :) My goal is to write bilingual posts every time I have something to present here.

Tomorrow I'll start with some crunchy oatmeal buns...

Kevään myötä ilmassa pyöriikin muutoksen ituja! Siirryn bloggaamaan täällä kahdella kielellä huomisesta alkaen. Pitkään harkinnassa ollut muutos johtuu siitä, että kyllästyin taiteilemaan kahden blogin välillä. Ei ole helppoa luopua ensimmäisestä blogistani Vuodatuksessa, mutta haluaisin kovasti aktiivisempaa vuorovaikutusta muiden kotimaisten askartelubloggaajien kanssa. Bloggerin ja Vuodatuksen välinen kuilu turhaan eristää vanhan blogini muusta blogistaniasta.

Toivotankin siis tervetulleeksi kaikki uudet lukijat! Oletpa sitten vanha tuttu tai uppo-outo, olet tervetullut lukemaan blogiani. Myös aihemaailma laajenee pikku hiljaa, ja uskon, että täällä on pian entistä mukavampaa vierailla. :)

29 Faces 2014 #28 & #29

Long time no see! My last entry is probably a month ago and I feel almost guilty for it! ;) Been busy doing all kinds of stuff, starting by seeking new job, seeing friends and going through a Spring cleaning in home...

On International Women's Day my 28th painting got ready.
The name of this piece is "It Comes Down".

The last, 29th face I struggled to get done. After getting other projects ready I finally found my inspiration. The flirtatious songs I listened tonight definitely had an impact on her look:
