Hi! Hope your year has started well! I'm starting to get more cosy in my new home - one can actually call the apartment as home these days. ;)

This blog post I started already a month ago but... I found myself mixing Christmas bakings and decorating my house, and unfortunately not blogging.

The cardboard hearts I covered with gesso and home-made colour sprays.

Today I thought this is as good day to continue as any. There are things to show! ;) I have a huge list of things I'd love to do soon. The end of last year was quite tiresom but now I want to start expressing myself. :)

This digital drawing is already somehow Spring-spirited. :) 

Although Winter in Finland is beautiful, it's sometimes dark and depressing. 

A bit of colours have their place among the season.

Hi again!
I have been away quite a while, almost two months! It has been a struggle to get all the necessary things in order in my life. Finally I have moved all my belongings to a new place and cleared my way for a better life.

Hei vaan! Aikaa on kulunut lähes kaksi kuukauttaedellisestä julkaisustani, mutta tauon olen käyttänyt hyvin. Pääsin muuttamaan muutama viikko takaperin, ja pari tiukkaa puristusta tavaroiden siirto vaati. Omassa sopessa on ollut hyvä pohtia elämän virtauksia, mitä vaatia itseltään ja miksi. Näin kaamoksen aikaan elämän järjestely tuntuu tavallista vaativammalta. Pienet valonpilkahdukset ovat jotenkin tosi merkityksellisiä.

Järjestin itselleni aikaa toissaviikolla, vaikka muuton viimeinen puristus oli tekemättä. Ehkä rentouttavinta, mitä yöunia lyhentäneen hässäkän keskellä voi tehdä, on vapauttaa itsensä muutamaksi tunniksi maalaamaan. :) Alla oleva työ syntyi Päivin Intuitiivisen maalauksen kursilla. Tekniikka oli helppo oppia, ja se ei vaatinut sellaista alkusuunnittelua, johon saatan ajoittain jäädä jumiin. Intuitiivisuus jäi mieleen soljuvana työmenetelmänä. Kiitos rauhoittavasta ilta-kurssista, Päivi!

Above is a work from an intuitive painting workshop held by Päivi from Peony and Parakeet. That really relaxed my mind among this consuming moving process. I guess a break with wtercolours is something I could use more regularly. :) Almost like meditation!

For now, I seek some time for myself. I certainly feel like my self-expression is starting to open, so I'll look forward to publish some new stuff here :)

During Breaks - Digital Drawings

Busy week at work went actually quite nicely. Thanks to yoga classes (twice, yay!) and going early to bed I had more energy than usually. I feel anxious to find a new apartment nearby -  but inexpensive small apartments are rare, sigh...

Here are outcomes of my art moments, during short breaks at Saturdays...

Viikon varrella on työtunteja kertynyt, mutta yllättävän hyvin olen jaksanut. Päätin suosiolla jättää iltatekemiset ja satsata yöuniin, hyvä päätös. Loppuviikkoon ehdin sovittaa kaksi joogatuntiakin, jotka nollasivat ylikierroksilla pyörineet ajatukset.

Uutta asuntoa itselleni tulee jatkuvasti etsittyä, mutta budjettiin sopivia ei ole juurikaan näkynyt. Säästölinjalla elo jatkuu, siis.

Going through a Change for Better Life

The last month has been in a manner speaking windy. I have realized I need to do some changes in my live in order to feel well and have more energy.

As for now, nothing changes quickly. I work to save money to get where I want - living by myself. Sometimes admitting to yourself that your previous big decision does not work out is tough. I certainly took my time, wishing life with my ex would eventually get easier.

Allthough this is sad, it's a start for something new. I plan to find more ways to relax and listen to my inner voice.

My decision has opened my eyes for other changes too. Next week I'll go to a lecture to re-think my professional goals as well. That'll be exciting and motivating!

(Allthough creativeness tends to suffer when life gets windy, I found a medium for short bursts: The drawing in this posting I made with an application on my Samsung tab. Getting a grip of new instrument is more like playing, and thus relaxing.)

A Peek of Colourful Fairies

Hi again! As you might have noticed, I'm have taken a summer break from blogging and craft projects. But not entirely! Here's some technique experiments from June - I took my oil pastels out and sketched a couple of fairies.

With oil pastels I also used a lot of watercolour, and a bit of sparkling mists! This combination is all about colours, so I left black out completely.

Heippa taas! Olen ottanut vähän "omaa lomaa" askartelusta ja bloggaamisesta tänä kesänä. Ajattelin kuitenkin rikkoa hiljaisuuden tällä keijuprojektillani. :) Värikkäät kokeilut syntyivät öljypastelleilla luonnostellen ja vesiväreillä ja misteillä täydentäen. Musta väri oli helppo jättää pois, ja eivätpä nämä työt sitä kaipaakaan.

Kun kesä ja helteet vielä jatkuvat, jatkan minäkin vielä hiljaiseloa tovin, kaikenlaista tekemistä kun riittää. Mukavaa elokuuta jokaiselle! :-)

Mixed Media Canvas - Summer Theme

This Sunday I went to a course held by Riikka. She showed us how to make a summer themed canvas from all sort of materials. I really enjoyed learning new technique with my own hands! :)
/ Oli todella mukavaa olla tänään mukana Riikan canvas-kurssilla Espoossa Askartelu Amaliassa. Aiheena oli tehdä canvas-taulu mixed media -tekniikalla kesäisestä neidosta.

Sattumalta aihe sopii Amalian kesähaasteeseen, joten tulenpa minäkin mukaan kesäkuun haasteeseen. :)

I got my work almost done in the four hours! This course was first of its' type and I'd say Riikka did great job in scheduling. :) At home I added some small decorations and white paint as well as finished the face area.
/ Yllätyin itse siitä, miten pitkälle sain oman työni tehtyä. Tuppaan tekemään tosi hitaasti uusia asioita. Onneksi en ollut ainut, kaksi muutakin askartelijaa mainitsivat samasta asiasta. :) Ohjeistukset olivat siis selkeät ja aikaa riittävästi, koska kellään ei tainnut tulla kiire.

It always a challenge to change colours in a middle of a work - I really struggled to mix good skin tones from my own colours. So this resulted in re-painting the hole area.
/Omat akryylivärini eivät sisällä valmiita ihonsävyjä, joten sekoittelin uusia sävyjä otsa hiessä. ;) Halusin muuttaa ilmettä, minusta tuo alkuperäinen oli jotenkin omahyväinen. Uusi ilme on ainakin erilainen, vaikkei niin luonteva, mitä toivoisin. Kesäneito on kuitenkin nyt valmis!

Three ATCs

While the sun has been hiding behind clouds, I have made the best out of indoor life by crafting some ATCs.
/ Synkän pilvinen ilma on tänään jo vaihtunut auringonpaisteeseen, mutta viime päivinä en ole halunnut viettää aikaa ulkosalla. Yllätin itsenikin tekemällä kolme ATC-korttia. :)

Tällä kortilla haluaisin osallistua Tämä Joutaa Korttiin -haasteeseen.
Tässä on käytetty kuvina mainosleikkeitä. :) Jopa teepussin narun päässä ollut mietelause on mukana.
/This one is for the challenge Tämä Joutaa Korttiin. I made use of advertisements and even a tea bag aphorism.

Tässä toinen kortti haasteeseen. Hyödynsin taustaksi vesivärein värittämääni hukkapaperia. Olisi varmaan mennyt roskiin, ellen olisi ajankulukseni alkanut koristella metalligeelikynällä vihreitä osioita. Pidän paljon lopputuloksesta! Kasvitieteellisen puutarhan tekstit antoivat aiheeksi uhanalaisten kasvien suojelun.
/ The second card for the same challenge. Sometimes a cut off part of a painting needs just some decoration to turn into a card itself. A brochure of Finnish botanical garden gave a theme: Protecting endangered plants in scientific facilities.

This one I have started a long time, maybe a year ago. First it was just some ink drawing on a yellow copy paper, and little by little I worked it forward. Yesterday I coloured the edging with black, added the texts and some gold gel here and there. Finished!

Well, time to find more projects to work with! :)
